International SOS and Control Risks Active Shooter Advisory
Philadelphia
We have been advising our clients and members with up-to-date information following the active shooter incident in Las Vegas, and continue to do so. International SOS provides the following advice in case of an active shooter situation:
Prior to departing on your next journey
- Make a plan along with the other members of your group
- Identify a meeting point in case you are separated from your group
- Make sure everyone has a means of communication
Should you find yourself in an active shooter situation:
- Run – Leave the area away from the direction of gunfire
- Hide – If you can’t run, find cover or shelter; anything can be used as shelter
- Tell – Notify law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so
Once you can confirm your safety or are able to move:
- Go to your meeting point and wait for your group
- Communicate your location to your group. Try text and data messages if voice calls don’t work.
- Seek psychological counselling once the incident is over; everyone suffers some level of post-traumatic stress.
